Furthermore as Nuclear Power has not been used as a main source of energy over a prolonged period of time there is a high chance there are risks that we don’t even know about.

• The construction of the systems including radiation containment systems costs a huge amount and also takes a long time. This means it could take a while to get every where running of nuclear power and away from the other sources.

• It is not a form of renewable energy, one of the most common reasons people do not want to switch to the nuclear alternative is because they believe more time and investment should go into finding a reliable renewable energy source for the future.

• It is quite hard to source the uranium required without running into other troubles. Most uranium sources are protected by local tribes or communities who do not allow it to be mined. It is also very expensive to mine it if permission is granted.

• There has been a lot of negative publicity with regards to the health of miners and workers due to environmental contamination through the process of getting the uranium. On top of this there are reports stating the waste will be very long term and last for up to 500 thousands years.

• The value behind it opens the market up to terrorism and piracy. Nuclear power stores could be the perfect target for terrorists and if the uranium or waste were to be shipped abroad it will be open to pirates and terrorism.
