How To Save On Your Epson And Brother Printer Ink Cartridges
By tommen
It is a one time cost to purchase a printer, but the printer ink cartridges needs to be replaced once in a while. This adds to the cost of using the printer and keeping it in proper condition so it works perfectly when needed the next time.
Depending on the make and model, the printer ink cartridges can cost more than the printer it self.
Every time you press the "print" button on your computer, the printer ink cartridges will use a small amount of ink and soon they will be empty again. Here are some useful tips to save ink and use the cartridges for a longer period.
1. Print only what is absolutely necessary
We often make unnecessary print outs and waste expensive ink in the process. On the internet, you might only need a small portion of the page instead of the entire web page. You don´t need to print the heavy graphics of the page, just the text.
Graphics and images consume a lot more ink than just text.Look for the print version of the web page, there is often a link available somewhere on the page.
If no print version is available, copy and paste the text to a notepad or word document and print it out on that.If you only need to print out a small paragraph of text, you could use a piece of paper and a pen instead.
2. Take a quick print review
Printer models like Epson, Dell, Canon, HP and many others come with a printer driver CD which contains a useful print driver function. You can use this function to preview the copy you want to print out.If the sales package does not contain drivers, you can get them from the manufacturers website. Some operating systems install these automatically.
The print preview function is very handy when you are printing directly from a web page, because the printed version often looks very different from the "real" version, and the preview function helps you print the material you really want.
3.Switch off the printer when you don´t need it.
If you don´t switch off your printer properly the print heads will be exposed to air and this causes the ink in the cartridge nozzles to dry, which in turn affects the printing quality.
4. Try a ink saving software
There are many printer ink cartridge saving software available, like InkSaver2.0 for instance, on the internet which are designed to reduce the ink consumption.
These softwares will help to get high quality printouts with less ink.You can get high resolution printouts as well.Make sure the ink saving software is compatible with your computers operating system and the printer model before installing it.
5.Use the ink cartridges smartly
Run a small printing test weekly, if you don´t print regularly. This will prevent the printer ink cartridges from drying and gives the cartridges a longer life.
6.Avoid extreme temperatures
Avoid exposing your printer ink cartridges to extreme temperatures.Too hot or too cold is not good.Keep them in room temperature.

- Best Buys from 2011
With lots of printers tested in 2011, there were a handful that were just better than the rest. Here you'll find a list of the top printers and scanners I tested. And a note--some of these actually were tested before 2011, but were so good that they just keep making it to the list!
- HP Officejet 4500 All-in-One
The HP OfficeJet 4500 Wireless is not exactly a speed demon, but for the price (I saw it as low as $129.99), it's a very good deal. For that price, built-in wireless, an automatic document feeder, fax, and (manual) duplex come as welcome surprises. Print quality for text documents was not the best I've seen, but color photos looked lush and wonderful.
- HP Deskjet F4280
This HP Deskjet printer is an entry-level all-in-one printer that does a remarkably good job.
- Samsung SCX-4729FW Laser Printer
The Samsung SCX-4729FW is a fairly heavy-duty monochrome laser printer. It offers office-friendly features such as automatic duplexing, scanner, fax, copier, built-in Wi-Fi networking, and an automatic document feeder. Print times are competitive with other monochrome laser printers.
- Print Directly on Fabric
You can print directly onto fabric using your inkjet printer. Here's how.
- Brother MFC-255CW All-in-One
Brother's MFC-255CW is a very good color inkjet printer that is a great value at under $100. Like some other Brother all-in-ones I've tried, it has slow print speeds across a wireless network, but it scores high points for print quality--especially photos, which come out looking fantastic.
- HP LaserJet 1536dnf Printer
If there's a down side to the HP LaserJet 1536dnf multifunction printer, it's that it's not part of HP's
- Best Wireless Printers
Wireless printers offer great convenience for small or home offices, or simply where desktop space is tight. Wireless printing is becoming more and more of a standard rather than an option. Here is a list of some of the best wireless printers I've tried.
